Sigh, once again this is fine, there is no problem with actual offensive things such as racist remarks. Words that can be filtered and arent actually offensive or aimed at anyone is the topic here.

O.o Simple as, if ur trying to offend someone = ban if ur just swearing at the situation = no ban (assuming its not something raciest/ect.)

My question is why argue on the internet, its like running in the special Olympics no one wins and at the end ur all.. u get the point. I try my best simply not to insult the other person with rash words of mindless arguing to begin with! "Do not argue with an idiot they will drag u down to their level and beat u with experience".

Yeap pretty much the situation. Funny thing is this could be easily solved by people just using Chat Filter. Anything that gets through is probably evading it or pretty bad that you can report for.

If I can get the emails of my mate I'll show you some of the replies from the Arena.Net staff because its hilarious. Also note we didn't actually get a reply until the ban was up.
yes I have, in my experience they are very helpful and acted fast. but i did not get ban so I don't need to contact support for getting unban.

now, with that said, the problem isn't the support, is what your friend say in the "incident", ask them what they say. no one knows, only ArenaNet support, your friend and the people reporting would know.

if your friend have screenshots of the incident and it show there's no real reason for a ban you should do something

RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO
i see this a lot, and am completely clueless as to what it means... I thought it was a term referring to WoW. But i asked one of my co-workers who plays WoW all the time and he had no idea...
Any clarification as to what this references will be appreciated.

Guild Wars is a teen game. Do you know any teens (especially those that play games) that don't use vulgar language?

I think restrictions on it are pretty silly, especially when you can ignore/map/turn off chat/use filter. Abuse is a different story, I suppose.

Heheeh. This means you just pissed off more than 1 person. Self-ownage.

By the way, abusable... All people would have to be in the same town/location/server/district as you are to report you. And since it's almost impossible in 4vs4 or something like pve (unless you pug, it serves you right), you probably insulted a lot of people in a outpost.

Or by biting your tongue. Or screaming at the screen instead of writing things down.

Dude, you already promised us you won't post in this thread. Stop it. The longer you denial you were to blame, the more you will get banned. Simple.

Can't put on Ignore list when it's full. FFS why only 10 ignore list and 100 friends list? -.-
You can't map/turn off whisper.
Filter isn't almighty.

Do you have 10 people whispering you at once? People use the ignore list very poorly - if you have to add someone, they can be removed after a brief while, not many are going to keep trying over a long period (and the ones that do can stay on).

You can appear offline, as well.

And just because one person is bugging me, I should get offline so that none from the guild/friends should see me.

And I usually have also scammers that tried to scam me on ignore list, so I don't get accidentally tricked by them.

I still ask, why this thread isn't closed. OP offended someone, or insulted him. Filter doesn't matter if someone says "*beep* you, your mother and your family!! you old stupid gay *beep*", right? Because no matter what it censured, it was wrong and should be punished.

Wow I thought everyone understood it by now. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHEN IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY INSULT SOMEONE, AKA YOU AREN'T AIMING IT AT THEM. Wow.

Maybe we are, but if they are going to implement your idea, do you really think that people won't take advantage at it by insulting other persons ?

Your ban isn't entirely the fault of the report system. Some people are just bitchy and decide to report everyone for the smallest things.

The point of keeping this going was to try find a way around this. Btw once again, I wasn't banned it was my mate. Orginal suggestion was to remove the button but obviously that can't really be done without people abusing it so trying to find some middle ground.

Just because you don't aim something at someone doesn't make it magically "not offensive" towards them. If someone said the N word in my vicinity irl, I would be pretty damn offended.

Sorry, I skipped a few pages xD.

Anyway, with so much people that plays GW, it's impossible to make everyone happy (look at every update ANet did, there was always a bunch of people that weren't happy with it).

For the last time: The filter is NOT the solution against bad language and does not excuse it.

It's a PARTIAL MEASURE just in case people do not follow the rules.

You must follow the rules and us proper language only regardless of the chat filter, since such language is forbidden by the EULA itself.

If you want to be a dirty loudmouth... well... DON'T.

Proper language is the only valid language, you can be the evilest demon of hell or the darkest anti-hero, and yet you MUST use proper language only. Not a single swearword should be allowed.

The amount of "OMG! But pplz will be offended!!!" posts really makes me rofl.

Seriously, if you're that little of a person to let words get to you, I have a message for you. I mean this in the nicest way possible... grow a pair. Seriously, sticks 'n stones. We were all taught this at age 9, follow through. Just because someone uses "the N word" doesn't make them racist. I have a few black friends and when we're out and about and stuff, "the N word" is used pretty loosely because they know me and my white friends are not racist. The amount of people who use racial slurs is far and away greater than the actual amount of racists. Grow up and live in the real world, not everything is sunshine, candy and rainbows and never will be. I have a different opinion about racist actions, obviously (KKK, racial profiling, etc.)

That is the difference right there, it is a big difference from an open environment of total strangers throwing the "N" word around.
